?enticular?refers to a picture printed photographically or with ink, which has a special plastic sheet (the Lenticular lens-sheet) attached to it. The front of this plastic sheet consists of many clear cylinders, side by side, which act as lenses.  There are anywhere from 40 to 180 cylinders per inch on the surface of Mostpack Inc lens-sheets.
AEach cylinder lens magnifies the stripes behind it, one at a time, as the observer changes their viewing position relative to the Lenticular lens-sheet.  In this way, the Lenticular lens-sheet makes each image visible at a different place in space.
When the observer moves their eyes into the space where the different images are visible, each eye sees a different image.  This creates the experience of 3D.  As the observer continues to move, the eyes keep seeing new images (assuming there are many images).  This allows the observer to see different points of view of a 3D scene, or different frames of a movie or video, or both, depending on how the pictures are made.
Knowing how many pictures to use, how the pictures should differ from each other, how many cylinder lenses should be on a lens-sheet, how the lenses should be designed, how the images should be reorganized behind the lenses, and how to accomplish it all and print it accurately in proper relationship to the cylinder lenses, are the most important issues that must be handled properly to optimize the realism and quality of the finished lenticular image.  This knowledge, based on 40 years of experience, and a continued commitment to improving the underlying technology, is what sets The 3D Source apart from the rest of the field.
