Vanuatu is a beautiful friendly developing nation in the South Pacific, which suffers from a very high unemployment rate; some estimates have unemployment at 40% with over 50% youth unemployment. TROPICAL LTD married hard working young Australian couple that have taken on a 527-hectare high rainfall tropical farm in Port Vila, Vanuatu. At the moment we are breeding beef cattle for the export market and the local veal market here in Port Vila. We work the farm ourselves and we currently employ four fulltime local Ni-Vanuatu farmhands. We are looking at diversifying to make the farm viable and to create further employment for local Ni-Vanuatu families. We have been looking at many different options; we have found several projects that show predicted returns of 15% per year (compounded interest) or more for investors. We are interested in turning some of our farm into an Agro-Forestry Project. Three options that we would like investors to consider are; - Sandalwood Plantation Project (we have a Information Booklet available) - Whitewood Plantation Project (a very fast growing softwood) - Biomass Plantation/Generator Project (renewable energy for Pacific Islands) These projects all have carbon credit possibilities. The first project that we would like to get under way is the Sandalwood Plantation Project. This is an agro-forestry plantation. This project shows an estimated internal rate of return above 15% per year to the investor and it will deliver substantial benefits to the local economy and will create long-term employment for local Ni-Vanuatu families.
