KOMSCO, Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation, established with full investment of government as a sole currency manufacturer in Republic of Korea in 1951. KOMSCO is under the control of government and Korea Minting & Security Printing Corporation primary mission is to produce currencies, securities, papers, and minted products as well as to export products to foreign countries.

KOMSCO has been consistently pioneering the use of innovative technologies since its foundation. Today, KOMSCO supplies not only security-related products such as banknote, coin, banknote & security paper, passport and stamps but also up to date technology products like ID cards, IC cards and Smart cards which enable automatic identification and electronic payment transactions.

KOMSCO has Technology Research Institute with superior staffs which operates independently and conducts basic and applied research programs for printing, minting and paper-making in relation to currencies and other securities. Since its inauguration in 1967, Technology Research Institute has made great contributions to technological self-reliance. Recently it accomplished significant achievements including development of copy disturbing paper, color shifting pigment, multi-purpose card, fluorescence treated security thread, surface treatment technique for special coins and medals.
