Company Description

LG Chem Co., Ltd. manufactures petrochemicals, plastics, and high performance industrial materials in Korea. It operates in three divisions: Chemicals and Polymers (CAP), Industrial Materials, and Information and Electronic Materials (IEM). The CAP division offers poly vinyl chloride (PVC) products, which include straight resin, paste resin, and specialty PVC resin that are primarily used in pipes, soft and rigid sheets, sashes, and floorings; plasticizers, such as DOP, TOTM, and DOA; acrylic acid and acrylate, which are used as raw materials for high absorbent resin, textiles, paints, adhesives, and impact modifiers; and IPA, a solvent, which is used for paint and ink, and high purity IPA that is used as a cleaning solvent for semiconductors, liquid crystal display products, and other advanced electronic products. This division also provides low- and high-density polyethylene and cable PE products that are used in packaging, agricultural and industrial films, pressure coating, injection molding, blow molding, pipes, electric wire coatings, and insulation; engineering plastics that are used in automobile components, electronic and electronic components, and precision machinery; and specialty resin products, such as MBS, SBS, SB latex, and UV stabilizer. The Industrial Materials division manufactures construction materials, such as window frames made of PVC; interior materials, such as wallpapers and flooring; surface materials, which include artificial marble; and automotive products, including interior and exterior components, bumper systems, engine parts, plastic fuel tanks, and steering wheels. The IEM division manufactures rechargeable batteries, such as lithium-ion batteries; optical materials, which include TFT-LCD polarizers; display materials that comprise phosphors for PDP and LCD-backlighting phosphors; and printed circuit board materials, such as CCL and resin coated copper foil. LG Chem was established in 1947 and is headquartered in Seoul, Korea.
