Marco Polo International (MPI) is a privately-held, American-based company that is an international trader and distributor of prime, generic prime, and widespec polypropylene, polyethylene, and polystyrene resin pellets. Nico Liuzzo founded Marco Polo International in 1983 after immigrating to the US from Italy at the behest of an Italian producer of polypropylene Montecatini S.P.A. After the acquisition of Montecatini S.P.A. by US Steel, Nico decided to incorporate a trading firm of his own to utilize the experience he had gathered after over tMarco Polo Internationalnty years of working for major producers. Drawing on his proud Italian heritage, he founded Marco Polo International, named after the explorer Marco Polo. Nico felt an affinity for the famed explorer with his own exploration of the entrepreneur’s life and the world of private business. Marco Polo’s reputation in the industry was forged by an unyielding commitment to his 'word as his bond', as he could be relied on to fulfill his commitments and uphold the integrity of his products. Upon his passing in 2001, his son Marco Liuzzo succeeded him, adapting and evolving the firm to meet the changing needs of contemporary global markets.
