Company Description

Munja is the only manufacturer of starter batteries, stationary batteries, traction batteries and batteries for special purpose in Croatia. It was established in Zagreb in 1920 as a part of VARTA (German concern) and stays in it until 1946 when nationalization happened in Munja country. Since 1992 company is Shareholders Company and the biggest shareholder is the state. In 1999 there was a privatization and today the company is in private ownership-joint stock company; more than 94% of the company belongs to one owner. We manufacture all kinds of starter batteries and other kinds of batteries ( stationary, traction, batteries for special purposes ) and we mostly export our products (approx. 60%). In October 2008 MUNJA d.d. got ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 standards and in October 2010 standards were adjusted with ISO 9001:2008. Our intense is to improve existing manufacturing and to greatly increase our efficiency as well as the quality of the products.
