In 2005 Adrian and Lania Pohio had the opportunity to purchase 120 hives from Ohura deep in the King Country, after discovering a passion for beekeeping.This was the beginning of Natures Country Gold Ltd journey with Natures Country Gold. In 2006 the first Natures Country Gold honey was harvested, the quality and unique flavour of which was received with praise by an experienced beekeeper. This prompted Adrian and Lania to pack and sell their first harvest at the recently opened Hamilton Farmer�s Market. Their first day at the market proved so successful that they began accepting invitations to other markets and festivals in the North Island The Pohios� have continued to expand their beekeeping business, growing from 120 to 1200 hives. 90% of their harvest is sold to New Zealand exporters and the remainder to loyal customers through farmers markets and their website.Purity is paramount and producing the finest honey is what we strive for. Son Hayden Pohio further expanded the family business, combining his experience as a food technologist with his passion for the natural NZ Manuka Honey his parents were producing to create the now popular Boosta Bars and the Manuka Energy Cells. -Lania and Adrian Pohio
