WWComs launched development efforts on H.264 in December 2001 when it was still classified as H.26L. WWComs proprietary motion estimation and rate control algorithms yielded high quality and much more efficient implementations of H.264. The initial efforts also focused on development of tools and techniques for producing highly optimal parallel assembly code on a large scale. When migrating from a PC development environment, the application of these tools created very efficient codec implementations resulting in superior solutions for constrained environments such as DSPs and embedded systems.DSP-R thrived in the Silicon Valley for 15 years. Its DSP design expertise in wide variety of DSP applications (VoIP, multimedia, wireless, etc.) provided valuable expertise for creating more complete H.264 solutions. This combined with DSPR ten years of close relationships with semiconductor companies as W&W Communicatioll as its vast experience in packaging efficient solutions on DSPs has contributed greatly to WWComs success and range of skills.
