With its manufacturing base located in Lishui Economic Development Zone, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province, A.O. Smith (Shanghai) Water Treatment Products Co., Ltd. produces and sells a full range of water purification products, including residential and commercial water purifiers, water filters, central water softeners and industrial water treatment equipment. As one of the major part suppliers of water appliances in China, over 80% of the fittings and parts are self developed and produced, such as reverse osmosis membranes, pumps, transformers, housings, filters and tanks, etc. It is one of the earliest manufacturers engaged in the production of reverse osmosis membrane elements in China. The key raw materials are imported from the USA and Japan. "Innovation has a name" has been the tradition of A. O. Smith Corporation through its 138 years of history. To better serve A. O. Smith operations worldwide, a R&D department dedicated to purification products was set up in the in the Corporate Technology Center (CTC) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, thus enabling the R&D department in Shanghai to work seamlessly in conjunction with the US CTC to accomplish design and development projects as quickly as possible. Smith (Shanghai) Water Treatment Products Co., Ltd. has cutting-edge water treatment laboratories in the industry, capable of conducting microorganism examination, physical and chemical analysis, performance testing, structural testing, electrical safety testing, etc. Currently the company is enlarging the laboratory in accordance with NSF/WQA standards. After construction is completed, they will be world-class water treatment laboratories and also the first in China to be certified by international certification organizations. The company has also established cooperative relationships with some universities in the application of new materials, especially high-efficiency filtration, nontoxic, and antibacterial materials, to stay at the forefront of the industry in China. At present, products researched and developed by the company have been granted 78 patents, including 5 invention patents, 29 utility model patents, and 44 product appearance patents, 2 of which are international patents. The company is not only in the world leading position in the design of residential RO purifiers, but also pacing the domestic water treatment industry in the high-efficiency adsorption and purification fields.
