ORTHODOXTYPE (LOOSE TEA) FOP- Flowery Orange Pekoe This grade is thelargest of the leaf grades. It’s a whole leaf grade. It does notcontain tips as it is usually made from the bulky teas of the lastroll. The leaf has an attractive appearance. It has a light cup andis marketed for its leaf appearance and flavoury liquor. PEKOE Italso has a large leaf. It’s a whole leaf grade. It contains bothwiry and rolled ball like leaf. Its liquor is usually rich inflavour as well as some strength. It is also demanded more for itsattractive appearance and cup quality. OP-Orange Pekoe It is afancy looking grade. It contains numerous tips as it is made fromthe fines. The liquors are quite balanced. It consists of verytightly rolled leaf resulting in a very attractive twisted and wiryappearance. It is demanded more for its attractive leaf appearanceand its balanced cup. The production of OP is small. BOPF- BrokenOrange Pekoe Fannings This is the bulk of the black orthodox teas.It contains both broken leaf and tips. It is relatively small insize and it has rapid brewing properties and gives a good strongflavour and colourly liquors. OF-Orange Fannings It is the smallestof all the grades. It contains the fannings of the whole leaf aswell as that of the tips. Its liquor is quite strong with somebackground flavour. It is marketed more for its liquor than leafappearance. Type 2.CTC TYPE BP 1: Broken Pekoe 1 Lighter in bodybut rich in flavor. Pekoe is a Chinese term that means 'whitedown', it refers to the character of the tender young tea leaves.Pekoe is a term that is used to grade tea. PF 1: Pekoe Fannings 1Pekoe Fannings 1 is more balanced in both flavor and pungency.Pungency is the condition of having a strong, sharp smell or taste.Pekoe Fannings 1 is more balanced in both flavor and pungency.
