The very first Self Compensating Pneumatic TBRAUN & CO LTDniquet Machine was co-designed by Braun and Company in 1963 and featured in 'The Lancet'. Since then the Braun Tourniquet has gone from strength to strength and is used in a high percentage of UK hospitals.
Today Braun produces a wide range of Tourniquet models, using their manufacturing and design facilities to continually improve the original design to meet quality and legislative requirements.

Here at Braun we are currently celebrating the 50th anniversary of the self compensating tourniquet as back in 1963 Braun & Co co-designed the self-compensating tourniquet, a major advance in blood regulatory apparatus. The Lancet was impressed enough with the new invention to publish an article on it, and so began the manufacture of a device that has been so successful it has been copied by many other companies.
