In the early 1980's, Choongsan has extended its business spectrum to include engineering and supply of steel works and become one of the major steel suppliers in the world-wide market. The company has retained most valuable technical know-how, procedures, standards and data bank applicable to all aspects of steel works.

In 2001, Choongsan has been separated out to be a new independent company and started its own business under the name of Choongsan America Corporation is the successor company of Choongsan. All of the past experience and technology have been transferred to the said firm accordingly.
