Gemstone Communications, Inc. (GCI) was funded in 1999 by a team of industry veterans from multi-national enterprises at U.S.A. and Taiwan with broad experience of telecom system as Gemstone Communications Inc.ll as VLSI design, manufacture and marketing.

In the worldwide telecom trend, the data traffic is rapidly replacing voice traffic. The existing network has to be upgraded for broadband network connectivity. ATM, IP and SONET/ SDH integration as a multi-service platform is emerging in telecom market. Technological evolution is driving a physical layer evolution, many technologies will co-exist but the network has to remain reliable and backward compatible. For the worldwide broadband connectivity, SONET/ SDH physical interface is today the only proven and backward compatible approach.

The company's initial focus is to provide the industrial most optimal solution for multi-service protocol access node, and our ultimate goal is to be a highest quality silicon provider of effective system solutions for broadband network connectivity worldwide.
