The VMS occurs along Gowganda Sediments in contact with Nipising Diabase. The property is bound to the south by a provincial park along the Sturgeon River. The orange & green line traces above represent access roads. Bush road upgrade was ongoing while working in the area June 2008 east of the river, after a conversation with a forester from Vermillion Forest Products (Sudbury, Ontario) it was confirmed that there will be a forest harvest in this vicinity in two years. This property was a patented claim until 2006. Mr. Daigle of Dowling, Ontario staked the claim June 1st, 2006 after it was posted in the Ontario Gazette. After spending a two days in the area with workers, a few of the original trenches were located. (3) 3.1 Past Work Maple Mountain VMS, Turner Township Past Work dates back to the late 18th century during construction of the railway and exploration of Canada. No documentation pre-dates 1930’s and 1940’s era. The property was last worked in the 1960’s. This deposit was acquired by Mr. Daigle in 2006 after a June 1st posting of lands opening for staking ( Ontario Gazette, May 15th, 2006 edition). Also located the parallel zone south of the rock dump. Samples were taken in both areas and assay results are pending. The property also has significant Cu showings that need mention; 5.4ft of 3%Cu, 10ft of 1.8%Cu, and 37.2ft of 1.7%Cu in two of the western pits, W Aitchison, 1956. The zone extent is not delineated both east and west. To the west where good Cu mineralization was found infers that the zone sinuously offsets north. A basic mapping program needs to be initiated. Additional claims need to be added. A state-of-the-art aero mag-em survey would successfully delineate any economic target in the proximity. The property comprises a single 80 acre claim situated near the north boundary of Hess Township. An all season bush road ( KVP Road) goes past the claim at kilometer eight. It is recognized with the original Voyageurs Pit found in the early 1900’s by prospectors who discovered free gold and brought attention to the area. Little work is found in the assessment files (Sudbury Resident Geologist Office). Excerpt taken from a report by Osborne, 1930: “the phenomenal values in gold obtained from one pit (Voyageur Pit) that lead to much of the present staking. A 30-40m x 5m area was power-washed extending NW of this pit. located June 18th 2007 after a 2 days of accessing and mapping. 1991 Falconbridge Drilling=> HE-07; Double Pay Day, HE-09; Voyageur HE-09; 1.6% Zn over 1.5m and 4.07% Zn, 1.4% Pb, 0.2% Cu over .4m @ 222m. The mineralization intersected is assumed to be the extension of the said north zone which is not yet developed at the Geneva Mine. This said north zone has been recently been stripped and power washed by the present claim owners (2008 field visit by author). This area is situated just north of the access road next to the ventilation shaft and measures 3000ft SW but appears to be offset to the northerly by the Dowes Fault. At surface this zone has been stripped and power washed for 40m and is open both NW and SE. Channel sampling is also evident. (7) 4.2 Conclusion/ Recommendations A mapping program needs to be initiated along with time spent establishing a better access trail to bring in equipment. The trench should be blasted and sampled deeper. The target should be surveyed with an electromagnetic instrument (max-min) then drill testing should test the favored conductors. Max-Min Survey; The zone should be traversed perpendicularly using a short cable length ( both 50m and 100m) reading 222Hz, 888Hz, and 1777Hz. (8) The 40 acre claim is in Munster Township accessible along the KVP road found along HWY 144 across from the Benny, Ontario turn-off. The magnetite Iron Formation lies along a sedimentary/ metavolcanic contact situated in the Benny Belt. The deposit should have a good rake extension since it is bound by significant faults either side (see figure 4). 5.1 Past Work There is an abundance of files at the Sudbury Resident Geologist Office with work completed in the area (Benny Greenstone Belt). However two of these files have evidence (drill logs) of work done on this showing, but with little documentation explaining location and results. An aero-magnetic signature, modeling the Geneva Mine occurs to the NE along strike of the Dowes Lake Fault. The Double Pay Day occurrence infers an extension of the Geneva Lake Mine. A proposal of acquiring 9 additional claims is presented on the following compilation (page 10). The ground also lies within the Gowganda Sediments similar to what is hosting the Geneva Mine.
