South Africa has 116 000 unqualified teachers. These teachers have time till April 2014 to start with a teaching qualification. In failing to do so, they will not get registered as teacher and consequently lose their jobs.Should these teachers lose their jobs, it will lead to many schools not have teachers to teach and would have to close down.
Their inability to embark on a teacher training program is based purely on the non-availability of upfront funding. Most of these unqualified teachers are based at schools in rural areas and mostly financially challenged.Â
To enrol a teacher requires R20k x 3 yrs = R60k.
Should these teachers not be in a position to obtain qualifications, it will kill Kataxio Financial Services schools and deprive kids from valuable education.
