“One of Surgical Product Solutions missions here at SPS is to bring revenue back to the hospital for product that would otherwise be destroyed or donated while at the same time helping identify additional efficiencies in managing the OR inventory.” We accomplish this goal by proactively performing inventory inspections in an attempt to identify product that has been orphaned, overstocked, or otherwise obsolete. Once this product is identified, SPS takes control of the product and offers it to the secondary medical supply market while providing reasonable payment back to the hospital. The secondary market for medical devices is made up of smaller community hospitals, rural hospitals, veterinary clinics, wholesalers as well as ambulatory and same-day surgery centers. These products include but are not limited to disposable, medical, and surgical products. SPS's main focus is helping hospitals realize significant cost savings on their medical devices. We do this by: Working with the O.R. and materials management to identify orphaned product. We then re-market the product to other healthcare facilities and wholesalers at a discounted price recouping valuable budget costs back to the hospital. We warehouse un-used, in-date medical devices from all major manufacturers as a result of our re-marketing efforts for other regional hospitals. We sell this product to facilities like yours at a 50-75% discount from list price.
