Founded in 1894, We are the leading manufacturer of fine silk fabrics as well as other textile fabrics in Japan. Our head office is located in Kyoto city, one of the major textile manufacturing areas.

We produce reproduction of acient fabrics like Shoso-in Repository.
We also produce interior decorative fabrics, ornaments for traditional festivals, stage curtains for theaters,seat cover fabrics for airplanes (ANA & JAL), trains (JR Shinkansen) and buses.

Tatsumura Textile was founded by Heizo 1st Tatsumura (1876~1962) who received the Imperial Award from the Japan National Art Academy in 1956 and the Medal of the Purple Ribbon in 1958 for his inventions and improvements in the field of textile weaving. The long tradition of the company in the study of ancient fabrics and the reproduction of these fabrics based on the result of such researches have been handed down and further developed over the generations, to Heizo 4th Tatsumura at present, so that Tatsumura Textile Co., Ltd. are now producing and merchandising artistic fabrics well known in the world.

In 1954 Tatsumura Textile produced several items of silk fabric, including reproduction of Meibutsu-gire (speciality cloth), for the famous European fashion brands.

HISTORY
Tatsumura Textile Co., Ltd. was founded by Hiezo 1st Tatsumura (1876-1962) who received the Inperial Award from the Japan National Art Academy for his achievements in the field of textile weaving. The long tradition of the company the results of such researches have been handed down and further developed over the generation, so that Tatsumura Textile Co., Ltd. is now producing and merchandising artistic fabrics duly recognized in the world.

1894 Heizo 1st Tatsumura founded a weaving company aiming to express the art in the woven fabrics.
1919 Held the "First Weaving Art Exhibition" at Nihonbashi Club in Tokyo.
1923 Commissioned to weave cover-cloths for the journal of the overseas trip of His Imperial Highness the Crown Prince (later Emperor Showa).
1924 By the request of the Imperial Museum, restored the treasured fabrics of the Shosoin Repository.
1927 Exhibited the tapesutry "Kan-ra-kabekaka, Rakuro" at the Imperial Art Academy Exhibition.
1928 Commissioned to make brocade album in commemoration of the wedding of His Imperial Highness the Crown Prince (later Emperor Showa).
1934 Commissined to weave the tapestry "Ten-chi Gekiryo Zu"to celebrate the wedding of His Imperial Highness Prince Chichibu.
