Liakakis&＃039;dairy products are very famous in Greece. The production unit is located in the villaga of Sidirokastro, in Messinia, upon the mountains. The altitude there is about 800m above the sea. The production unit gets milk from the local farms and this is one of the reasons the cheese products have quality. The milk collection takes place via a small truck every day and the further treatment is according to HACCP rules. Liakakis produces FETA (P.D.O.), SFELA (P.D.O.) and MIZITHRA. FETA ans SFELA are packed in wooden barrels and tin containers and MIZITHRA is vacuum packed per piece (a small sphere approximately 1,5kg). All the products have expire date 18 months after the production date. The production unit is certified for its compliance to ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System and to HACCP Food Safety Management System. The establishment of the new ISO 22000:2005 will be completed in the next 2 months. Liakakis sells cheese products to the greater SUPER MARKET chains and this ensures the quality of these products.
